Breathtaking Free-Spirited Wedding with a Vintage Scarf Canopy
Vanessa + Terry’s breathtaking free-spirited wedding has us feeling like we tumbled straight into a Moroccan market. Their day had no shortage of oriental rugs, boho poufs, rattan thrones and wild details, and we will be double tapping these images for days. The most inspiring detail is perhaps the vintage scarf canopy focal piece… can’t take your eyes off it? Us either. So prepare to get swept away into another world in these lovely images from Raquel Benito and *weep* over this bride’s sweet surprise to her hubs.
What style and feel did you envision for your wedding?
We really wanted a food truck wedding, that was the main focus on finding a venue that could let us bring in our own catering and have them be easily accessible to the venue. It was all about the day/night being laid back and a lot more casual than your average wedding, it was seriously just abut everyone having a good time!
What are some adjectives that best describe the look of your wedding? Did you have a theme or color scheme?
We hired the most amazing stylist and being a visual merchandiser myself, the look and feel to our wedding was so important. I love anything bohemian and moroccan style. I said to our stylist, Shonel (from Nomad Styling) i wanted some sort of a tipi, let me tell you, she did not disappoint!
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now?
If you’re going to splurge cash on anything, do it on your wedding stylist – it creates the theme and atmosphere for the entire day/night
What songs did you play at your wedding? What did you choose for your processional, recessional and first dances?
I actually hired singer Kyle Lionhart (from Byron Bay, Australia) as a wedding gift to my husband. We absolutely love his music and i somehow managed to pull that off! He played a couple of songs before the ceremony for us (Terry and i did our first meeting before the ceremony in a park with just the bridal party). I then walked down the aisle to one of Terry’s favourite songs by John Butler – Ocean, which Kyle played. Our first dance was to Kyle Lionhart – Slow Sips. Dad and I danced cueca (Chilean national folk dance) followed by some fun dancing, Mi Tierra by Gloria Estefan.
